What do you love (and hate) about chorebuster?

Rimu Atkinson
As the subject says... Feedback from customers is really important for me, as this is a constantly evolving web site and for it to evolve in the best way, it needs YOUR comments.

Please let me know what works well and what does not.
Michelle One thing that would be nice is if the chore list showed me the frequency for each chore also without having to open each chore - then I could see if I need to redistribute them easily.
Julie I wish I could print a monthly version of the chores instead of weekly.
Chevelle Thomas I wish I could see the room for each chore. For instance, I created a different chore for vacuum (living room) & vacuum (family room) but when it prints out, it only says "vacuum". but I absolutely love this program. I hope it works for our family.
Jamie I would also love it more then I already do if you could print by month, like it shows on the top of every page:)
Rimu Atkinson
these are great ideas, folks. thanks! :)
Lisa
I would love it to have a function where you could set when you're on holiday. So that, for instance, certain chores that are extreme and only get done once in a blue moon won't be lost if it pops up while you're on vacation.

Ideally it would just put everything on hold and then resume the day you return.

Thanks for this site! Makes family life much easier with less bickering!!!
Rimu Atkinson
yes, i (and many others) have felt the need for a 'holiday' feature too...

it's top of the 'todo' list, but unfortunatly is moderatly tricky to code so i've been sorta putting it off. ;-)
Rimu Atkinson
done now ;)
Tina A longer list of preset chores would make the site easier to use. Either that or preset lists for each room (e.g., a list for bedrooms, another list for kitchens, another for bathrooms, etc.) so that you could go to each list and select the chores you want to set up.

I like the site but it is cumbersome to try to set up each separate chore.

Tina
Rimu Atkinson
Yes, it can take quite some time to get up all the chores, the first time.

But once they're all in generally you won't need to do much more work on it, ever! Perhaps adding a chore or two every few weeks, or changing how hard/often a chore is, but that's about it...
Shawn Cannon It would be nice if it could incorporate some type of game to it. For instance, you could expand the idea of the Hardness level.

Members of the house can compete to see who scores the most points based on the difficulty of the tasks.

Fun way for parents to encourage their kids to clean up. Of course, household members would need to come up with their own way to provide incentives for the contest.
Rimu Atkinson
That's an interesting idea.

It's quite different to what ChoreBuster currently does, so I think it'd need to be a different web site, rather than part of the current one.

I need to keep chorebuster as simple and focussed as possible, so that it doesn't confuse too many people.
Stephanie
I would like to have a print out of the month rather than the week.

This is a great idea. I often have thought about this very thing. It is so hard to get my boyfriend to do anything unless I am right there to tell him to do it. Thanks!

-Stephanie E.
Lisa I love it all. a tally of points for each child would be great so a reward system at the end of the month could be set up.
thanks,
Chic (Lisa)
Lisa What about a links are for tips on how to clean scuff marks, coffee stains, and other things like that. I know with kids there are alot of things that come up that i havent any idea on how to deal with....lol.
just a thought.

CHic
Tiffany Bernethy Expanding the spreadsheet to include a checkbox to mark when the chore is done. This would allow a parent to quickly see what is and is not done.

This would also allow those looking for a "points system" to incorporate it. For example, if I had the checkboxes, I would put a point in the box (1-5), when the boxes are added up I can see who had how many points.
Rimu Atkinson
I like the checkbox idea!

I'm not sure if the points would be very interesting though; chorebuster makes sure everyone always gets the same amount of points (unless you have edited someone to get less chores). The amount of points a chore is worth is determined by the 'hardness' setting of the chore
Mara Just joined and see that printing a monthly view would be wonderful. That's how we display our current chores calendar now and the children are used to seeing it this way. For planning purposes, it's great to see the entire month at a glance! Thanks!
Elaine I mentioned something similar in an email, but how about a way to exclude chores of a certain difficulty level from certain days, as in "never schedule 'above normal', 'difficult', etc. on Sundays and Mondays"
Nicole Evol I love Chore Busters, I couldn't get my kids to do any chores if my life depended on it but now with a printed list of exactly what they have to do they do ( with no complaint) their chores. Thank You Chore Busters
Nikki E.
Jackie I'd like to be able to use the widget for daily chores and to be able to work directly from the widget for immediate chores that I want to see right away..

For example, to be able to click the lady and to have an option in the menu that says "Add Task For Today" or "Delete Task For Today"
for things like groceries, etc.
Jackie ALso, would be nice to have an autologin feature. It's frustrating to have to log in whenever I want to add a chore
Rimu Atkinson
Yes, very true. I will do an autologin ASAP.
Rimu Atkinson
autologin added! :)
Penni Well I wouldn't say 'hate' (sounds so harsh!), but what I would LOVE to be able to do is print one person's weekly list at a time. Instead of being able to print a specific room, I'd like to be able to print a specific person's list for that week. I've been copying/pasting/formatting in Excel, and this in itself is a chore! (grin). I do print the entire week and put it on the fridge, but we also like to have our own sheets so we can check them off as we go. I hope this is a future option. :)

Kindest regards,
Penni
Rimu Atkinson
it definitely is in the pipeline :)
Sara Yetter I love that I can "exclude" people from certian chores. Than my 4 yo will still be contributing but he won't for instance pull "sharpen the knives". Thanks for a great site!
Sara
Morrow01 I would absolutely LOVE it if there were some 'age' appropriate chores, and those could be incorporated so that you know you aren't giving your child/children too much or too little. I have lots of people in my family, but it seems my husband and I are the only ones getting things done. And, with so many young ones....we seem to be getting behind. Any chance of getting a chore list out there started? THANKS!

Also, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this....just needing more help....LOL!
Susie Shafer I think this is great! Just found it today and I'm looking forward to using it. I'm embarassed to say that it's only for my husband and I, as we don't have any children right now. HOWEVER, being that we are still in our first year of marriage, I'm hoping this helps work out some of the "kinks" in terms of WHO and how OFTEN :)

If I could add anything, I would like a feature of picking the days of the week. For example, pick that I'm in charg of dinner Mon/Weds/Thurs/Sun and that he's in charge Tues/Fri but that Saturday is "unassigned" and left open for pizza, etc.

I also liked the vacation idea since we'll be in Vegas next week!

Thanks,
Susie
Paisley We just starting using this site and we love it so far. Thank you for making life easier. This has made it possible to spend more time doing things we want to do because "MOM" isn't so busy doing all the house work alone!!!
Kristine Well, I have created two chores schedules; one for my home and one for my mother's home. She is a widowed elderly woman who has my brother and sister living with her. Not only am I more organized about when I get those recurring chores done at my own home, but I am now able to more effectively enlist the help of my brother and sister in helping my mom. It's funny but the "list" creates the chores, not me so I don't look like so much of a nag. Anyway, things are getting done and for that I am thankful. I suggested your site to a friend who's daughter is headed off to college and who needs to revamp the chores for the remaining kids. She sounded excited about it.
Rimu Atkinson
that's good to hear, Paisley and Clair :)
Caroline1963 I have just found your site and I love it!! I am using it as a way to keep myself on track. I wish there was a way to assign chores to certain days of the week. For example, if I want to do something every Mon. Wed. & Fri.
thanks
Robin I just joined. I have started working on the chore list, but not quit done yet. Once I have it all together I KNOW this is going to be great! Thank YOU!
Andrea I just found this site and already love it. With 5 children, it's what I've been looking for. Is there a place where I can change the workload for individuals on a daily basis. For example, I have a daughter that is busier on M & W so I want to give her a lighter load but not the whole day off? Or Dad could do 100% work on the weekend but only 50% work M-F.
Penni Rimu:
I absolutely LOVE the new print options! This is wonderful! Thank you, thank you, thank you for all your hard work!

Penni

Heidi Chore Buster is awesome. I've been looking for something like this for quite awhile. Thanks alot!!!
Laura I'm so glad I found your site. I am the "lesser" of two procrastinators in our home. I really dislike being the one to "nag" my husband about doing things around the house. This is a very non-nagging, straight-forward way of getting him to do some chores. He actually said he "liked" the way it worked.

Thank you!

I would like to be able to assign some chores for certain days of the week, like M, T, W only; Maybe with checkboxes on the advanced page for each chore.

Angela Lambrix I found chorebuster after years of trying several other types of chore charts. Your program took ME out of the equation - I love it! I no longer feel like the house dictator. The program has been working great. The only thing it's missing for me is the option of scheduling for my kids to have no chores when they are at their father's house for visitation. I wind up taking up the slack every other weekend.
Tim Great Job. In my family, though, everything is specific (I am a control freak). Two things would really help:

1. Add the ability to specify a day of the month recurring chore (I like to change my AC filter on the 1st of month). I can set an offset, but total days in a month changes from month to month.

2. The ability to check the items off on the list would be neat. Also, the option to push the item to the next day if I don't have time to finish it.

Cool website.
Rimu Atkinson
Yes, your first point is an excellent one. Currently the level of control over when a chore happens is fairly low, it's more of a "set and forget" thing... I want to provide more options there in future.

With the second idea... Do you envisage logging in to chorebuster to tick the chores off? Or just having a box on the print-out to place a tick in?

I have assumed that most people will find logging into a web site each day to be tiresome, and that a print-out (which one can scribble out the chores on, as they're completed) is easier, but I could be wrong...
Sharlene Don't like only having two choices on "when someone is not available to do this chore"

1. Ignore
2. Move to next day

What if a chore absolutely has to be done every day, i.e., feed the dog, fix dinner, set table, etc.

Can we have a button:

3. This chore MUST be done today!
nancy I also love being able to set up the needs but not be the 'taskmaster'! It also makes it more even for the kids--they find compaints about who 'gets' to do the easy chores and the ones they have are always the hard ones.... so this will help! Now to add the chores I forgot... :-) nan
Kim Ryan I've only just started using this, and I haven't read everything others have posted so hopefully I won't be too repetitive.

Mainly, it's the scheduling that I like to be more flexible:

* repeating on a specific list of dates

* Mon - Fri or specific days of week

* Weekly, Monthly, Quarterly, Seasonally, Annual (but on a specific day of the week, day of the month,...)

The more complicated, nice to haves:

* Linked tasks, such that once the start time of task A is set, tasks B, C, D, etc. would be scheduled automatically at intervals in relation to it.

* Add more detailed info to a chore. For example, the chore might be "Wash underbedding", but the details could explain that I mean the mattress and pillow covers. (OK, not the best example.)

* Similiarly to the idea of linked tasks, I'd like to create chore groupings, like "Spring Cleaning" or "Fall/Pre-Holiday Cleaning" that contain tasks spread of a period of time based on the initial start date.
Rimu Atkinson
Very interesting comments, Kim. Thank you very much!
Brandy I have said numerous times that I LOVE this website. My husband and I joke that it has saved our marriage!!! No more nagging and complaining that "I" do more than "you". :)

There are always things to improve upon any system, but I understand the complexity and the time involved!!!

1. I like the idea of dividing the chores starting with the difficulty level.

2. Have each day be "even" with points instead of a week or within two weeks.

3. I would like an option to lessen the workload on a given day. Like Tuesdays, I only get 25%, while my husband get 25% on Wednesdays.

I guess those are my main options that would be cool to have.

Thank you, thank you for everything!!! We love this system!
Brandy
Shannon I'm new to the site, but already I love it! Maybe these subjects have been adresses, and I didn't see them.

1. Check a box if chore is everyday M-F

2. Check a box so no chores fall on Sunday
(or a specific day)

Thanks so much for this wonderful site, I know it is going to be just what I need!

(Note added 1/4/7) I found the items I was asking about!

Thanks

Shannon
Hinds I just found this site through another forum recommendation. I have to say I love it. My three daughters can see the fairness in it and like the programmed mum time I have added. Instead of paying them for their chores I am putting a dollar a day in a tin for each of them for us to have a family holiday.
Melody B I like ChoreBuster very much.

I especially like the Yahoo Widget. I do wish the widget would allow me to "check off" the chores so they no longer appeared on the widget.

I also wish that in general I could check off chores. If I don't do a chore today I would like it to show up - possibly preferentially - on tomorrow's list. This would be optional, of course, because some chores simply can't be done except on their specific schedule. And if a chore could be postponed, there could be a limit to how many days in the future it would be postponed - and if it continued to be postponed, it would go back to its normal schedule. Since the chores in general simply repeat at a set interval, the interval count would start when the chore was actually done - not when it was originally scheduled. Maybe. ;)

But even being able to postpone chores is not that big a deal. Most chores, if done on a proper interval, can stand to be skipped once without dire consequence. If I don't dust my dining room table, nothing dastardly will happen if I don't do it all week either until it shows on the schedule again.
Scott I really like this program! The only gripe I have is being stuck with doing the laundry chore most of the time... I can play with the date started and frequency of other chores and it breaks it up a little, but I'm having trouble with one or two people being stuck with the same chore even though two others in the household are on the list for that chore. Is there a way to program a feature so that one person won't get stuck with the same chore twice in a row to make chores rotate a little better?
dee i love that for the first time in our married life (4 years) my husband has done some chores, because i didnt pick them, and i didnt have to remind him about them (10 times) as he gets daily emails, and feel less picked on hehe
Reine I also like the idea of setting different percentages (workloads) for individuals on different days. For example, my girlfriend has certain days where she both works and goes to school. It would be cool if we can set her workload to 25% that day, but not take it off completely. For myself I work M-F, so it would be good to set weekdays at 75% and weekends at 100+ since I have more time.

But, as it works now, we can just go by weeks rather than specific days.
Tina First I must say I LOVE chorebuster, whenever the kids come and try to complain about a chore I tell them that I didn't set it up chorebuster did and they can't complain to me!!!! I would like to be able to set up chores for certain days (like this chore is done Mon-Fri) and this chore is only done on Saturdays. Of course the favorite chore in this house is Eat Ice Cream everyone can't wait for their turn for a special treat!! Thanks for setting up a great system!
Laura Really like this program...hubby even says he likes it!

After using it off and on for over a year, I have a few wishlist items. It would be helpful to have a seasonal chore option. For example, Mow Lawns between X and Y dates, May thru October.

Also, ir would be nice for the daily chores to appear with checkoff boxes, one for each day.

Thanks for all your work on this.

Bruce [ Michelle wrote... One thing that would be nice is if the chore list showed me the frequency for each chore also without having to open each chore - then I could see if I need to redistribute them easily.]
I have made chores to be done on specific days and generally as time allows through the week. The "weekly" chores are scheduled on Monday - on mine the week is Monday thru Sunday although I think I may have seen a post on how to change this - have to check it out.
At any rate, each chore name starts with a code such as "w4-Vacuum LR" which indicates that it is a weekly chore and is worth 4 hardness points.
At least in this way I can see the points on the schedule without having to remember or refer to another page and can add the points up for a given week.
cathy It would be great to get to put more chores in.
Aaren I love this program - it rocks! I don't have to be "mom" to my husband anymore! He doesn't mind helping, but "needs" to be told/reminded what to do. Not anymore... YEAH!

I'd love to see more advanced scheduling options. ie, we only schedule dog walks M-F as on weekends we all get out and play.

Or, a daily list vs. weekly list. The daily list would be who makes dinner, picks up clutter, etc and is assigned to certain days. The weekly list wouldn't have particular days, that would be up to the individual to find time for. Lots of things can happen anytime during a week, like vacuuming or laundry. Seems like this might address some of the concerns others have had about allocating amount of chores per day. If you've got a busy day, you wouldn't do many of your weekly chores. If you've got an easy day, you'd do more of your weekly chores.

I like the checklist idea too. Chores that you don't get done in one week would be moved to the next. Maybe with the option to include/exclude them in "fairness" allocations. Maybe daily chores wouldn't get pushed ahead as they usually need to be done on the day they're assigned.

Thanks for your awesome program!
Rimu Atkinson
As always, great suggestions everyone and thank you very much :)

I pay a lot of attention to what gets said here, but unfortunatly don't always have the time to impliment many the things I'd love to add/change...
Tammy I would like be to be able to exclude certain chores from certain days of the week. Sundays and Saturdays we only like to do the bare minimum, but when extreme chores pop up I windup rescheduling them myself and get kind of a backlog.

I love that you can assign chores by people and give people a percentage to do. This works out great for me!

And I love the distribution. The "fairness" is why this works better than any other way I have used.
Lisa We have been using the chorebuster system for several months, and it's a great system if the parents follow through with the rewards/consequences part (yup - me and my hubby struggle with this!). With 4 teenagers complaining about being overworked, and how unfair life is ~ I'm about ready to try something different. Maybe instead of daily chores, we just give them bigger weekly chores and they have to be done by Saturday at 5pm. Right now, daily chores are suppose to be done by 9pm. Hah!! Anyways, inconsistent parenting seems to be our problem (along with too many hormones), and getting people to cross of the chores they have completed. Any suggestions for our unruly household? It's 4 against 2 ~ and the kids are winning!
Chris I would like to be able to assign a job to a particular day of the week, like take the trash to the curb on Thursdays only.
It would be nice to see the point total for each person each day.
Rimu Atkinson
Chris, that first feature you mention was added to the site last week :)
Mary DeVine I like the "random" way I can repeat a chore every fifth day. How can I have a chore set up for example, "occurs every 8 days" and yet not have the chore land on a particular day, such as Sunday.
Diana I like the program. Several ideas come to mind:

1) Is there some way to group chores so the same person does them? For example, I want to dry mop the floors in the living room and dining room everyday, but then once a week I want to dust the living room and dining room and once a month I want to polish the furniture? I'd like for the person who is mopping to do the dusting and polish the furniture too.

Similarly, I'd like to not schedule mopping the floors when vacuuming is scheduled. IN this case it would be one or the other. Currently, I achieve this by picking specific non-overlapping days for each.

2)Any way that the list of chores could be downloaded into Excel for those of us who'd like to see the point values, or add other detail to a job description?

Or alternately, have a print option that would print out one table of all the chores in a continuous list? Also consider adding an empty comment box on the side for those of us who might like to annotate a chore with some specifics. (see next idea as well)

3)How about adding a comments field to each chore, so if there is some special instructions or details, they could be added and the info kept with that particular chore. (Like "Trash cans have to be out by 7 a.m." or "Use only Softscrub on the stainless sinks."

Just thoughts... I liked the ideas about seasonality, being able to specify a recurring parameter by month, bi-monthly, quarterly, yearly. There are a number of chores that have to be done once a year, every fall before the rains start.

Thanks again!
Julie Lang I love ChoreBuster in general. For once, my house is clean and my hair isn't turning grey and falling out from nagging anymore.

The only thing that I am not so keen on is if I make a minor change to a chore (a typo or adding more text to it) or add a chore which doesn't start for a few weeks, when I save the changes it randomises my chores again for the current week. Its getting to be a small pain to have to keep printing out new schedules.

A nice thing to have would be a way to be able to set up weekday, weekend or even shifts for a person. For example, my husband works long hours during the week so I want him to have a reduced workload but on the weekends, its up to normal. Would that be possible?

As a follow on to that, it would be nice to have the option to set a chore frequency to fit into the shift pattern. For example, I'd like to set up a reminder for us to do a specific chore every other weekend (either day), not just a Saturday or a Sunday.
Rimu Atkinson
Julie, your suggestion of having some days with less work is the most voted for feature in the 'vote for new features' section, so it's coming very soon! :)
Krista I would like to be able to select everyone do this chore. For instance "make bed" instead of having to put in three separate make bed chores, one for each person, just be able to add make bed once but select everyone to do chore.

Thank you for this site, it is great. It helps my son and I very much. I just wish you could write a program that would actually make my husband do his chores :) he likes the idea but wants me to add his "projects" to the chore list (building DVR, Go-cart, etc...)
Matt So far, I love the site, and wish I'd had it five years ago, or even last semester. There are a couple of things that I think could use improvement, though. (I haven't read through the entire forum, so I don't know which, if any, of these have been addressed already--apologies in advance.)

-The scheduling system could use more options, e.g. for once a month or every 3d week. Scheduling something every 30 days works reasonably well, but may not always be adequate. Being able to schedule people the same way (e.g., $name only works Mondays and Thursday every third week) would be useful for a lot of people here--if their schedule is 21 days long but constant each week, they could set up three "people" who only work one week of every three to give their own schedule.

-"Earnt" is not a word in any dictionary I can find. I think this should be "earned."

-Rather than bugging people who use it to extend their account, maybe have the site keep track of last login date? It could e-mail people after ten weeks of inactivity, telling them that if they don't login within two more weeks their account will be deleted. If you're logging in, then you're obviously using the site, so it seems kind of pointless to ask people to verify that they're using the site.

-Time/date stamping on forum messages? I don't want to mistakenly bump threads that are a year old.

That's all I've come across so far--the site looks like it will be very useful, and I'm very impressed by some of the features--I thought the reward feature was a nice touch.
Rimu Atkinson
Hi Matt

Yes, the scheduling system could always be better....

Your suggestion regarding the expiration of accounts is already how it works. Whenever someone logs in, if their account will expire in the next month, they get an automatic 2 month extension.

I could probably afford to make it much more than 2 months though!
Jill Senal I'm just trying this for the 1st time. I don't like that I can't print i out just like a calander for the month. Or can I? My multiple pages don't line up for a exact week.
magnoliasouth A way to duplicate chores. For example... each of my children are responsible for cleaning their own bedrooms. I also break down each cleaning step, so they know exactly what needs to be done. So my daughter's room is bedroom 2. She must clean under the bed, vacuum, dust, etc. For my son, it would be the same things but for bedroom 3. Rather than have to enter it all over again, I'd like to duplicate a chore then just make the change to bedroom 3. Hopefully this makes sense. :)
magnoliasouth Oh and one more thing. A way to set my own reward system. I don't pay the kids, but reward them with x min. of computer or tv time. A movie ticket or so on. It all depends on how many points they earn.

Although on second thought, I suppose I could use poker chips or Monopoly like money for "reward cash" so they can buy these items. Hmmmm.
Rimu Atkinson
Jill Senal, you can do up to 4 weeks in one go, by choosing '4 weeks' from the first listbox when in the 'print my chore schedule' area
jonathan I signed up my daughter to the site with the same email address I added her as a "Person" to my main account. She should be tied the the same account to see all the chores. One of her chores is to Print the Chores, but can't because she can't get into my system.
Elizabeth I hope you don't get sick of glowing praise but.... WOW!!!
I love this. I have struggled with how to do this on my own. Assigning the hardness and so on was a pain, but I just printed out the next 5 weeks (all this upcoming month) and stapled them together to put on the fridge.

I'm not sure how much to assign for reward to chores, so for now I'm sticking with my current system of straight allowances, but I can see going through it at the end of the month and adding rewards (I'll add notes on the sheets on my fridge as we go). I'll probably have to change some chores because I probably left some stuff out.

One feature I would like to see is a choice of requiring more than 2 to work on a chore at once: that way I could have me and my 2 kids work on something together or the whole family for "clean out attic" etc.

THANKS FOR THIS GREAT WEBSITE.
Don't know if you have one or not, but how about a "tell others about the site" link? Just a thought!!
Rimu Atkinson
Thanks Elizabeth!

There is such a link on the 3rd column of the main menu.

Hard to find, i know. The navigation and layout of the site is being redesigned at the moment...
pickupf I agree with Michelle about needing to see "frequency" in an overview list of chores.
pickupf Oops! Ignore my previous message. I see that we already have "frequency" in the overview table.
Sandy What I love is everything except one (listed below) and I have tried a lot over the years.

We have five kids (and now two DIL's and two grandbabies) and I have written, typed, and created more charts, lists, and schedules than anyone I know.

I have tried so many things and drug all of us through. This system is the best of any and all of us love it! There are only three kids still living at home but we have a lot of company and stay very busy. This personalizes everything for each of it. I love it!

The only feature I'm not fond of is it taking two pages and can't be neatly fit onto one. We have a stainless steel fridge so the front can't hold magnets. I put our things on the side but there isn't as much room and I prefer one sheet anyway. That's it:)
Sue I've love this website. I find that I can communicate a lot better about what needs to be done without constantly nagging and bickering. With twin toddlers it has been rather difficult getting things done without losing your sanity. I am still tweeking the schedule to fit our needs better. Thanks a ton for your hard work in putting this together...
The only thing I can't seem to figure is how to schedule something every 3 weeks on the same day of the week.
Michael wacey I would like to keep a to do list in ChoreBuster. Things like repair a shelf or replace a light bulb. These are the clasic Honey Do jobs. I have a weekly cleaning chore each Satruday. It would be good to show these tasks that chore.
Diane On the "what date should this chore start area" it would be great if there was a pull down calendar. This way for chores that start in the future, but need to be done once a month you can set the start date on the right day of the week.
Babs I'd also like a to do list and and to be able to see an entire month not just a week. I would like to be able to schedule one-shot "chores" or appointments like - "take car for servicing", so that I can really see all my scheduled items at a glance. With the current configuration, I need to keep two calendars and a to do list.
Amanda C. Let me first say I love the way this is working out! I have the widget and it is great that I am able to click off the chores that I have done for the day. One thing, (and maybe I am doing something wrong) is when it doesn't get clicked off, it doesn't move forward to the next day to be done even though I have checked that option. Any advice or tips would be great! Thanks for all you have done to make my life and everyone lives who uses ChoreBuster easier! Amanda
Stephanie I agree with the poster above regarding when someone is not available to do a chore. I am setting up a chore list for my husband and I where he needs to take the garbage to the curb every Tuesday night. I am afraid that he might miss it if the chore gets ignored or moved to the next day. Can we have a third "this chore must be done today" option? Thanks so much for this great resource!
Me On the top of your web page it shows a monthly calendar with dates. That is what I thought would be shown in my account. Not weekly or daily...so I tried to print it out.

First Microsoft Word didn't work...second it printed out huge and waisted my paper. and not dates are on the calendar.

If you can help me that would be great. Other wise I don't see how I can use this site...that was a waist of 1 1/2 hours putting in everything that I have to do.

Thanks
Me Your real name should never be used as a user name.
Lu Lu My children are each supposed to do a small chore before school, but this sometimes clumps them up so that one child is doing all 3 morning chores. It would be great if the chores listed for a certain time of day where distributed a little more evenly. Thanks.
Melissa Chase When printing out the weekly chore list I wish there was an option to select some of the people, not just all or one. For example I would like to print out the chart for my four kids and then a separate one for just me.
Genevieve Hawtree It would be nice to be able to exclude people from certain specific chores on specific nights. Sometimes you are available to do chores but there are specific ones you can not do on that day. For example my husband, son and I share the cooking duties. I can't cook on Tuesdays and my son can't cook on Fridays. It would be nice to be able to tell chore busters that so that "Cook dinner" does not appear on Tuesdays for me or Fridays for my son.

I love chorebusters btw. Thank you for making my life so much easier!
Aaren I'd love to see more hardness options. I use them basically as time allocations - so 1 = 10 min. If something is difficult or unpleasant, I'll just give it more time than it actually takes. I LOVE chorebuster - we use it at our commercial fish site and at home!
Paula Perkins Is there a possibility of having the ability of marking off by who and when chores were completed? With the ability to look back on previous weeks.

Also, if a chore isn't done, (checked off) it wont be taken off, and repeated daily or weekly until completed.

Lots of times it's hard to remember if the chore was actually completed, and by whom.

Also, perhaps texting reminder lists not just email.
Melanie I recently learned that I have Adult ADD. I have never had a clean house, I would try and try and try but never complete anything. With chorebuster I follow the list and I don't leave the chore until I can put a check into the box. Amazing thing was after a week my house looked so much better, after two weeks it is always Clean! You are a blessing in my life, I tell my husband I can't live without my chorebuster.net!

I would however love if I could control the chores a bit more. I know it distributes them for me, but sometimes it would be nice to be able to drag a chore from me to someone else just for the one time before before I print it for the week. I know I could export it to excel and do it myself but I never would.
Melody I love the flexibility and the reminder system. If I understand it correctly, it will email reminders every day. I'll soon find out.

I'd like to have the "reward" be something other than a dollar amount. I want to be able to say I have earned 1/3 of my way to a massage, pedicure, etc. I think the reward system for adults needs to be changed.

Thanks for having this be a free thing. I hate having to purchase something w/o trying it first. I probably will donate to get the other options, but I want to see if it works for my family first.

April I'm sure I'll find things that I would like to tweak as I use Chore Buster, but right now, I LOVE it. Its such a great idea. Thank you for creating this. I wish I'd known about it when I had roommates.

I specifically like that I can contribute to the cleaning (I like a clean house) and not feel taken advantage of. I like that we can all decide our lowest common agreed upon cleanliness by deciding how often a chore should be done. I also like that it brings chores that some people don't think about out into the open so everyone really understands all that needs to be done.

I also like putting in small chores. Today I cleaned our kitchen window sill. I don't think it had been done in ages. It looks really nice now, it took less than 5 minutes, and, thanks to chorebuster, I don't have to feel guilty that I didn't do enough!

YAY! :) Less guilt, less resentment, more clean.
pioneercynthia Well, so far, I LOVE IT.

I have a nice calendar widget that shows repeating appointments, and I'd been thinking how nice it would be to have something similar for tasks. (Honestly, technology being what it is, I'm surprised that there hasn't been something like this before.)

So, when I found this site, I just had to try it out. I'm still working on adding chores to my list, but so far, so good.

It would be really nice if you could have two Widgets, because my daughter and I both use the same computer.

Keep up the good work. I plan on donating, because this site is really worth it.
victoria I've bought and tried many chore organizing programs and they've all turned out to be a waste! But this one is the best so far! There only 2 things I would LOVE to have.

1. To Do List. My husband needs a little reminder on the things needed to be done around the house that doesn't necessarily have to be done on specific schedule. ie. install new mailbox, fix leaky sink etc. Make it a monthly option perhaps. *These are the things that should be done this month*

2.Click and drag would be a dream! Our schedules change ever other week. So one week I can do a chore my husband cannot and the next we he can do that chore since I can't. Sometimes a chore shows up on a day that it just can't be done. (more often then not) It would be wonderful if I could just click that chore and move it to another day or person. Click and drag maybe asking for to much, drop down window options to start perhaps?

If those 2 things where added I wouldn't mind paying a monthly subscription to use Chore Buster.
Jennifer A My husband and I have had more arguments over the chores than I care to admit. While I would do some things consistently, others often got put off or overlooked. Things came to a head a few weeks ago, and I looked online for something to help me be more organized. I started using Chorebuster, and my husband noticed the difference without me even telling him about my new tool! It's very handy for me alone, but I look forward to using it with my kids, too.
